Short Term Cookery Courses
- 1 Year Diploma in Food Production – A Diploma in Food Production at IHA help the students to acquire the basic skills and knowledge needed to work in the hospitality industry and start a career in food production. One year Diploma Course in Food Production is aimed at specializing students, to acquire skills needed to start an entry level career in the kitchen department of hotels and restaurants. Students learn about various cooking styles and cuisines, and gain hands-on experience in kitchen. The course teaches the students various cuisines and styles of cooking. The program includes six month of on-campus training followed by Industrial training in leading hotels. They also learn employability skill as well as entrepreneur skills to venture into self-employment.
- 1 1/2 Year Diploma in Food Production and Bakery – The course covers all the constants of Diploma in Food production. The course also include Bakery skills.
- Hobby Courses in Cookery and Bakery – Short term Tailor made cooking courses for food enthusiasts and future entrepreneurs. The course is suitable for those who wish to turn their passion for cooking into a profitable food business.
IHA – Leading Culinary Institute
IHA has a well equipped state of art kitchen and a team of experienced chefs to guide and mentor budding chefs. The students learn hands-on skills as well as the food knowledge during the course. They also learn, Food Hygiene, Nutrition and Communication skills. Three year cookery and bakery courses also includes the modern trends in culinary arts. Students also have an Industrial Exposure training in leading Hotels as apart of the course. During the Industrial Training students work in the real environment and prepare the food for guests.
IHA offers a complete placement support on completion for all the cookery course. The Institute organize a job placement drive for each batch during the final semester. Leading Hotels and restaurants participate in the campus drive and select the students from campus only. So most of the students get job before completion of the course.
All the new age Culinary courses at IHA are government recognized. Short term courses are under tourism and hospitality skill council and also approved by NSDC. On the other hand, long term Courses are under Jagannath University.
Career Growth after Professional Cookery Courses
- Junior Chef (Commis Chef) – a junior chef who works under chef de Partie to learn the kitchen’s responsibilities and assist in food preparation.
- Chef de Partie – a trained chef who manages a specific area of a hotel kitchen
- Sous Chef – A sous chef is the second-in-command in the hotel kitchen, working directly under the Executive chef. Responsible for overseeing the kitchen staff, managing the kitchen when the Executive chef is absent, and helping to plan the menus.
- Executive Chef – An executive chef senior most profile in hotel kitchen and handles everything from managing staff to designing recipes and menus and also monitor the over all quality and hygiene in hotel kitchen.
